aerial nashville wedding- April & Christian

My stars am I excited to share this wedding. Let’s see… downtown Nashville rooftop wedding at Aerial Nashville followed by a fun reception with karaoke? Heck yeah!

I love how April & Christian really infused what they love into their weddings. It was probably the most touching & unique ceremony I’ve witnessed yet! The bridal party danced into the ceremony while guests beat tambourines & eggshakers. That fun energy built up until April & her dad walked down the aisle to “She’s the One” by Bruce Springsteen played by her brother & brother-in-law. Perfect.

Seriously, this wedding was so fun. Congrats to the newlyweds, April & Christian! You could really feel the love that every guest had for the couple.

Alex’s 2011 East Tennessee Venue Wishlist

Engagement season is here! The holidays make everyone feel so warm and cozy… no wonder it’s also a really popular time of year to pop the question. So I am especially excited for this announcement!

This year I had the opportunity to shoot at some GREAT locations, but there are a few in East Tennessee that I’m still dying to explore! So here it is: My 2011 Wedding Venue Wishlist. Basically book me as your photographer at one of these venues and you’ll get a little extra something something. You’ll get a free portrait session (your choice of Engagement, Bridal, or Day After). I would love if both the ceremony & reception were held at the venue, but if that isn’t possible, just let me know why. When you contact me, make sure to mention this promotion. Now onto the list!

1) Butterfly Gap Retreat I’ve been dreaming of shooting a wedding at this location ever since I learned about it. Just outside of Maryville, Butterfly Gap Retreat has both inside & outside ceremony locations. The mountains are absolutely gorgeous here & the reception location is SO rad.

2) Maple Grove Inn The trees at this Knoxville venue are to die for! Seriously, I really want to shoot a Southern wedding full of whimsy at this location.

3) Knoxville Botanical Garden & Arboretum I love trees. And I love a venue that has lots of nooks and crannies to explore! Their reception area is so dream-like. If you book your wedding at the Knoxville Botanical Garden, you MUST schedule plenty of time for portraits!

4) Cades Cove Wedding Anyone native to East Tennessee knows that this one is a given. Cades Cove is spectacular anytime of the year, but it is pretty EPIC during wildflower season and autumn. I was really excited to find out that you CAN get married in those really old churches in the park AND pretty much anywhere else. For a wedding over 20 people you’ll need a permit.

5) A field Yeah, this one is a little weird but bear with me! I love it when I read on blogs about couples getting married in unique places that AREN’T actual venues. I’ve seen some pretty spectacular weddings where they just set up a tent in a field. So if anyone has a unique wedding vision that has to do with an awesome looking field, PLEASE contact me! :)

Thanks for reading!

Chris & Carin’s wedding! – Knoxville Wedding Photographer

This wedding is close to my heart. I’m so happy to be able to be the photographer for this one!

Not only is Carin one of my bestest friends, she is my FIRST bestest friend to get married. It was an emotional day for my circle of girlfriends, but it couldn’t have been any more beautiful. If you start to think your seeing doubles, it’s cause you are! Carin’s twin Sarah was her maid of honor. And yes, Carin & I did go eat Shoney’s buffet for lunch. It was delicious.

Chris & Carin had their wedding at Big Ridge State Park outside of Knoxville. The leaves were just beginning to change and the weather was absolutely perfect. Big Ridge State Park was a wonderful place for a wedding. I went there a ton as a kid. I hope these photos “get to you” as much as they do me. I’ve had the biggest grin on my face while editing them.

Enjoy & congrats to the newlyweds :)

Becki & Cary- Nashville Wedding Photographer

I’m really excited to share this wedding! Becki & Cary faced so many obstacles to their wedding. The BP oil spill ruined their plans for a Gulf Shores wedding. The Nashville flooding damaged their home. Despite all these setbacks, they were determined to get married this year. I was so happy to be able to document their day. Their kids completely stole the spotlight at this wedding.

The day started at the Icon in the Gulch in downtown Nashville. Dang, those condos are amazing! Then we went down to the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge. They had their ceremony right in front of the Nashville skyline. It was breathtaking & the weather was perfect. Then everyone walked to BB King’s for a fun reception right in the heart of downtown Nashville.

Congratulations to Becki & Cary! I’m so glad you both were finally able to say “I do”.  Here are a few of my personal favorites.

Jessica & Josh – Walling, TN wedding

WOW. Just wow. I am so blessed to have this job! Thank you Jessica & Josh for letting me be a witness to your day. I’ll admit it, I teared up more than a couple of times.

This wedding was held at Jessica’s parent’s house in Walling, Tennessee, which is just outside of Cookeville. Their home and property are beautiful! It was perfect for portraits. Jessica & Josh had the biggest smiles all day. I think it could have flooded & they would still be so happy just to be getting married.

Anyway, I think the pictures show how awesome the day was much better than my words. Take a look, and leave them some comment love!
